There are several places to fish in the area, the closest being at Carling Wark, Castle Douglas for brown trout. We reccommend Doachwood for Salmon fishing and the River Urr for salmon, Grilse and sea trout.
Historical Sites
There are many historical sites around the area. A couple of sites are; Threave Castle, which was built in 1369 and was home to the Lady of Galloway for 21 years. Go explore the history of Threave while walking round the gardens and stopping in for lunch in their cafe! Another must go-to site is Cairn Holy. Neolithic chambered tombs over 4000 years old, they have been robbed, set a light and dug up throughout the years, leaving only the skeletonal stones of the original structure.
